Our Crafts

Sheet Metal Workers' Local Union 104 offers a diverse range of crafts and career pathways tailored to different interests and skill sets within the sheet metal industry. Members can specialize in architectural sheet metal, focusing on the design and installation of building exteriors and custom metal fixtures. HVAC specialists fabricate and install heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure optimal climate control in various settings. Testing and balancing technicians ensure these systems operate efficiently by meticulously adjusting and verifying their performance. Industrial sheet metal workers handle large-scale projects in manufacturing and production environments. Additionally, CAD detailing experts use computer-aided design software to create precise plans and blueprints for complex projects. Each pathway provides unique opportunities for growth, skill development, and professional achievement.

CRAFTS

OUR CRAFT

Architectural

Architectural Sheet Metal workers install and maintain decorative metal pieces onto buildings or homes. Some architectural sheet metal workers also work in the fabrication of various pieces to be installed at a later date.

OUR CRAFT

Heating, Ventilation, & Air Conditioning

HVAC technicians install, control, and maintain heating, cooling and ventilation systems. HVAC technicians understand how to create a climate in the building or home that is comfortable as well as safe for living.

OUR CRAFT

Testing, Adjusting, & Balancing

These technicians work to achieve a comfortable environment in the building or home by controlling and evaluating the system for any performance deficiencies, making some adjustments to optimize the system, and having the flow of air create the most comfortable environment possible.

OUR CRAFT

Industrial Sheet Metal

Industrial Sheet Metal workers install, fabricate, and maintain sheet metal products at refineries, factories, power plants and chemical refineries.

OUR CRAFT

Kitchen Equipment

Sheet metal is widely used in modern kitchens. Kitchen Equipment is produced, fabricated, assembled, and installed by sheet metal workers specialized in the area. Oven, stoves, tables and other kitchen essentials are made using sheet metal.

OUR CRAFT

CAD Detailer

Detailers use a variety of applications and software to create drawings outlining plans for duct fabrication to be fabricated in the shop. Sketching plans for projects is also a valuable skill for Detailers to possess. Detailers will also work with foreman and other workers to ensure the plans work optimally. A CAD Detailer works to design systems that produce minimal waste in the building process.

OUR CRAFT

Shop Manufacturing

Sheet Metal Workers employed at a shop will create the parts needed for installment and assist in building onsite
